WASABI Overview - Collect File(s) vs Collect Folder

Modified on Fri, 26 Aug, 2022 at 9:49 AM

Summary

This article will review the difference and impact of using the Collect File(s) and Collect Folder buttons within WASABI. Below you will see the buttons:

What is the Difference?

The collect file(s) button allows you to select an individual file as a data submission.  The collect folder button allows you to select a folder [which may contain multiple files] as a data submission.

What is the Impact?

Using the wrong option could also lead to aircraft identification difficulties in the EMS Platform.  If the collect folder button is used with a folder containing data submissions from multiple aircraft, processing may not complete successfully.

Additionally, some collection types contain multiple files that need to be present together to process correctly in the EMS platform.  In this case, the collect folder button must be used.  We'll provide an example of this case below.

Example

We'll compare an L3 Micro QAR collection from a Gulfstream to a Teledyne DAR collection from a Boeing.

The L3 recorder output is one .QAR file.  The output file varies in size depending on how much data was extracted from the aircraft.  For this file type, select collect file(s) and submit each as an individual collection.

This Teledyne recorder output is multiple files.  All output files retain a nearly static size in this schema regardless of how much data is extracted.  The dar.dat file seen in the image below contains the recorded parametric flight data, while the two eoflocat.qa2 and eoflocat.qar files produce the location where the dar.dat file should be read from as a start and end point.  For this file type, select collect folder and submit each folder with all files present as a single submission.
